Athletics Ethiopian is renowned worldwide for its long distance runners. AAU, as a microcosm of the country, also has its fare share of athletes that hail from various corners of the country. This year AAU recruited a formidable lineup of athletes of both sexes in long and short distance, and long jump. The recruitment will continue for until the end of the first semester, so if you believe that you are talented in any athletic category please and want to participate in try outs please contact the Associate Dean of Students for Extracurricular Activities and Sports or the Asst Dean of Students in your campus.  Soccer Football is the world’s most popular sport with the largest fan base. In Ethiopia as well, we have a large, diverse and avid fans that regularly follow their favorite team. AAU also has a long history of participating in national football competitions. Until last year, AAU was playing in lower divisions. Due to its strength and competitive results, it has since last year joined the prestigious National League.  What makes AAU exceptional and exemplary is that its line-up of players is composed of volunteer athletes from the ranks of the university community. The team, though not professional in the sense that it seeks no compensation for playing for the university, is of professional caliber. Particularly, the team put together this year is commendable and we expect great things for the current season.   The schedule of the games that the AAU Soccer team will play in the first half of the 2004EC season can be found here.
